Learning and growing together

About Little Jesters

Our setting

A welcoming setting for every child

At Little Jesters, we create a warm and welcoming environment where children feel valued, respected, and free to express themselves. Through imaginative play, creative exploration, and meaningful social interaction, we help children build confidence, develop strong moral values, and foster a natural curiosity about the world around them — both near and far. Our close-knit community of children, educators, and families works together to nurture each child’s unique spirit. Guided by compassion and care, we provide a safe and supportive space where young learners can grow emotionally, socially, and intellectually.

Our bright, airy preschool room has been purpose-built to meet school-level safety standards, providing a secure and inspiring space for young learners. Everything is designed with preschoolers in mind — from low-level toilets, basins, and sinks to child-height coat pegs — making it easy for children of all abilities to feel independent and at home. Indoors, children enjoy access to a wide range of thoughtfully organised learning and play areas, including a computer, interactive whiteboard, and a variety of resources clearly labelled to support early literacy and independence.

We also have a fully enclosed outdoor play area with a large canopy, allowing children to enjoy free-flow play throughout the day — rain or shine. In addition, our close connection to the adjoining school means we can occasionally join in with wider school events such as the Christmas play, Sports Day, and Harvest Festival, helping children feel part of a bigger community.

Our most recent report

OFSTED

Little Jesters is registered with and regularly inspected by OFSTED, we also receive support and guidance from Early Years and Childcare support service which contributes to the Partnership’s overall planning to provide education and care throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Our last full OFSTED inspection was April 2023 in which Little Jesters received a ‘Good’ rating.

We have included some of the comments from our previous inspection.
The inspector comments were:

Staff make accurate assessments of the children’s achievements and use this information to plan challenging activities for each child. Children make good progress in their development.

Staff meet the needs of children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. Additional support is put in place quickly to ensure all the children make consistently good progress.

Children are well prepared for their move on to school. For example, staff take children to the host school on a Friday to choose their snack from a tuck shop. Children confidently and independently pay for their snacks.

Information about children’s achievements is shared effectively with the host school when children move on in order to promote continuity of the care and learning. Staff sit with children in the school hall when they eat their lunch with the school-aged children. Children learn the routine of the school day effectively.
